SYNOPSIS: The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her. His mother just found out that he’s a vampire and now he’s homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that’s wrecking his life. And they’re willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he’s dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

REVIEW:

Let’s start saying that if you are looking for a book with twists all over the chapter, City of Fallen Angels is the right one!

In this book Clare weaves all the doubts and suspended point of City of Glass. The plot is very challenging and full of twists. I really enjoyed the focus on Simon’s story and Clary’s growth. But also I really find very important the growth of Isabelle, she’s now trying to open her heart and not to be more influenced by her parents’ past.

I don’t want to spoil anyone, but someone from the last book is going to reappear.

I expected more about Alec and Magnus, whom have been only the outline of the story, but I enjoyed the final scene in the hotel hall! Really so many feelings **

I’ve been really impressed by the new entry character Jordan, he really interests me, not only because of his description, but most of all it interests me his past and his relationship with Maia. I think that in the next book there would be a lot to discover.

The twist in Jace and Clary relationship are never trivial and I have to thanks Clare for this, because as I said in the first review I loved that she has not written about a love story all roses and romance!

City of Fallen Angels isn’t my favourite of the series, but I really enjoyed that finally the book focuses on Simon and his growth and awareness of being a vampire. I also enjoyed the fact of Clary, who starts finally her training to become a Shadowhunters.

THE AUTHOR:

Cassandra Clare (real name Judy Rumelt) was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran in July 27, 1973. City of Bones was her first novel, published in 2007. Cassie  hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her two cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants.
