But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go—especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil—and also her father.
To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings—and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?
REVIEW
What to say about City of Ahses, personally I preferred it compared to the first of the series – City of Bones. In this novel you can see the evolution of the prose of Cassandra from the first book: there are more descriptive sequence and she dwells upon details and description, and that’s something I really love in books. When you read City of Bones you start to be familiar with the Shadowhunters world, but now you start to be involved in it. The are always new characters, such as Maia in this book, or someone who evolves and become mature such as Simon. You start putting together puzzle’s pieces, but suddenly there’s something new that the author reveals, so it’s always full of turns of events.
SPOILER!
Friendship evolves in relationship such as the one between Simon and Clary. You can see in this book how the characters are growing up, someone is still absorbed by the past as Alec, who is still in love with Jace but he’s also fascinated by Magnus (they’re my favourite ship if it wasn’t clear!); someone else is tormented by the past, his origin and familiar bonds like Jace. Finally, I really like it, she didn’t disappoint my expectations, actually she surprised me so many times!

I give to this book four runes just because, as I’ve already said, the best is yet to come, but I think that some oversight that I saw while reading City of Bones are actually not in this one.
